U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper has formally requested that the Kennedy Center provide an explanation regarding the scaffolding and tarps that continue to obscure the building. Beyond the immediate mystery of the exterior coverings, the judge is also pressing the organization to address a critical uncertainty: whether the facility will maintain its operations throughout the duration of its two-year renovation project.

For the past week and a half, visitors have arrived at the Kennedy Center expecting to see that the name of former President Donald Trump has been removed from the building’s facade. However, these spectators have left in disappointment, repeatedly questioning why the heavy tarps and scaffolding remain in place eleven days after work crews successfully removed the lettering.
