Madison Square Garden Permit Filing Fuels Swift and Kelce Wedding Rumors

The ongoing rumors surrounding the reported wedding plans of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have gained new momentum following a permit filing in New York City. Dora Pekec, a spokesperson for the New York City Mayor’s Office, confirmed that an application was submitted to the city’s Street Activity Permit Office earlier in June.

While Pekec declined to disclose the identity of the filer or provide a copy of the documentation, she did confirm specific details regarding the permit, which were initially reported by The New York Times. That report, citing a city official familiar with the arrangements and three additional sources, indicated that an event is being planned at Madison Square Garden. A source within the venue confirmed that July 2-4 have been blocked off for preparations for a significant event, and Pekec verified that street closures are scheduled around the venue during that window.

According to the information cited by the Times, Winick Productions submitted the application, requesting permission to set up a tent outside the arena to accommodate between 500 and 999 guests. Elliot Winick, the president of the event-planning firm, opted not to comment when contacted. The report further suggested that the wedding festivities were being scheduled for July 3. Representatives for the couple and the venue have not provided comments regarding these reports.

Swift and Kelce, who have been together for two years, became engaged in August. Despite the couple keeping their personal plans private, fans have actively speculated on potential locations for the ceremony, ranging from international villas to Swift’s property in Rhode Island. While some fans initially viewed Madison Square Garden as an unlikely venue, others have interpreted various public appearances, including Swift’s recent attendance at the 2026 NBA Finals, as potential clues.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani also touched upon the topic during a recent press conference regarding the city’s capacity to manage large-scale events. Mamdani noted the overlap of several high-profile occurrences, stating, “We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time — and we are so excited to welcome the world here.” When later asked if he had received an invitation to the alleged event, Mamdani laughed and replied, “No and no,” while wishing the pair a lovely celebration.
