A beloved figure in the culture scene is officially ending her break from solo work to share a new collection of emotionally resonant music. American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers has revealed plans for the release of ‘Lost Weekend,’ marking her first solo studio album in six years and standing as one of the most anticipated musical projects of the year.

This third record is slated for an August 14 release under the Dead Oceans independent label. The project is expected to feature 16 tracks, with the lead single scheduled to drop tomorrow at 1am CET. The artist shared the album’s unsettling cover art, created by Swedish photographer Olof Grind, via an Instagram post that quickly drew intense fan reactions. Some users humorously referenced the notoriously melancholic nature of her songwriting in the comments section.

While this announcement marks a firm return to her solo career, Bridgers has remained active with various collaborations and live performances since her successful 2020 sophomore album, ‘Punisher,’ and its ensuing tour. Her recent work includes a feature on Taylor Swift’s ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ and appearances during the Eras Tour. Additionally, she found great success with her bandmates Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus in Boygenius, whose debut album ‘The Record’ won Best Alternative Music Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards, alongside additional wins for the single ‘Not Strong Enough’ and her own collaboration with SZA, ‘Ghost in the Machine.’

Following the Grammy ceremonies, Bridgers took a hiatus and largely retreated from the public eye for two years. She recently re-emerged with a series of intimate shows across the United States, concluding with a surprise phone-free concert at Madison Square Garden on June 4. Tickets for that event were priced between $1 and $20, with proceeds supporting an organization that assists people in immigration detention centers. The event bypassed standard ticketing platforms like Ticketmaster, opting for a lottery distribution system instead.

Bridgers is set to return to the road one month after her new album debuts. The Lost Tour will span the United States and northern Europe from September through December 2026. The series of 45 performances will be phone-free and will feature opening acts including Alex G, Isaac Wood, and Anaïs, with the majority of dates already sold out.
