The governor confirmed the tragic news via a post on X this past Saturday, describing the situation as a difficult update for the state.<\/p>\n<p>Of the casualties, three occurred within Madison County, while a fourth fatality was reported in Jackson County. Earlier that same Saturday, Governor Beshear issued an official state of emergency proclamation as weather forecasts warned that heavy precipitation would likely persist throughout the night. The National Weather Service noted that certain areas of the commonwealth had already recorded more than 6 inches of rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Beshear characterized the crisis as a significant flooding event, noting that emergency crews have been required to perform numerous water rescues from both residential properties and vehicles across the region.
