By late afternoon, the agency reported that certain areas in southwestern Indiana had already experienced between 4 and 10 inches of rainfall, with more precipitation likely. Meanwhile, officials in Kentucky braced for up to 7 inches of rain to impact parts of the state before the end of the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Beshear confirmed via social media that three of the fatalities occurred in Madison County, while one individual died in Jackson County. According to the Madison County coroner\u2019s office, two of the victims\u2014a man and a woman\u2014were discovered deceased inside their home after floodwaters surged into a residential area of Richmond, Kentucky, trapping occupants. A third victim was recovered from a vehicle that had become stranded in high water on Tates Creek Road near Lexington.<\/p>\n<p>Carlos Coyle, the deputy Madison County coroner, reported that search and rescue crews are conducting door-to-door operations to locate potential victims in the most severely affected regions, though he noted that some locations remain unreachable at this time. Governor Beshear highlighted that numerous significant roads in Madison County are currently submerged, and at least 12 state roadways have been rendered impassable due to the flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Describing the situation as a serious event, the governor stated that emergency teams have been performing repeated water rescues to pull individuals from both homes and vehicles across the commonwealth. He urged citizens to stay vigilant and avoid driving, particularly during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced.<\/p>\n<p>In northwest Kentucky, near Louisville, emergency management officials in Bullitt County ordered precautionary evacuations for residents living along a rural road following a landslide at a dam embankment. Officials confirmed that the dam remains structurally sound with no indications of an imminent breach.
