The Qingdao Grand Prix returned for its second day, delivering another series of high-stakes matches showcasing world-class judo talent. The event commenced with a spectacular opening ceremony that set a vibrant tone for the subsequent medal rounds.
Distinguished guests in attendance included International Judo Federation General Treasurer Dr. Naser AL TAMIMI, Honorary Vice President of the International Judo Federation and Taishan Sports Industry Group Board Chair Mr. Bian Zhiliang, Shandong Administration of Sports Deputy Director General Mr. Lin Chun, and Chinese Judo Association Vice President and Secretary General Mr. Yue Yan.
In the -63kg final, Narumi TANIOKA and Jisu KIM battled into an intense Golden Score period to determine the winner. TANIOKA ultimately secured the gold medal by executing a yuko from a hold down. Qingdao Municipal People’s Government Vice Mayor Mr. ZHAO Shengcun presented the medals to the athletes.
The -73kg category saw Tatsuki ISHIHARA triumph, earning his first-ever Grand Prix gold medal in Qingdao following an impressive performance during the preliminaries. Medals for this division were awarded by International Judo Federation Executive Committee Member and Uzbekistan Judo Federation President Mr. Azizjon KAMILOV.
Lara CVJETKO claimed the -70kg title, marking her second victory in Qingdao and her fifth Grand Prix gold overall. Her seasoned experience was on full display throughout the day, and the medals were presented by Realcan Pharmaceutical Group Co Limited Chair Mr. HAN Xu.
Finally, in the -81kg weight class, Zelim TCKAEV defeated Bernd FASCHING to take the gold. The Azeri judoka left little room for doubt, securing his victory with two powerful waza-ari throws. Impulse Health Tech Co Limited Chair Mr. LIU Hongtao awarded the medals for this final bout. Competition is set to continue tomorrow with the heavyweight divisions.
